Over 50,000 new cases of skin cancer are diagnosed in the UK each year. Of these, over 6,000 cases are malignant melanoma, the most dangerous from of skin cancer

The Healing Foundation supports projects that address patient treatment across the broad context of Form, Function and Feeling. Our research programme is multi-disciplinary and covers a wide circle of care. Our research goals include;

Scarless Healing
We aim to invest significantly in pioneering research in this area, in order to develop new treatments by applying new knowledge in the fields of tissue engineering.

Tissue Regeneration
We will investigate how, through breakthroughs in science, tissues and organs can actually be regenerated.

Stem Cells
We need to identify how stem cells can be manipulated to form new tissue, blood vessels or even nerves.

The Psychological Dimension
This will represent the largest investment in the UK to better understand the processes of psychological adaptation and recovery.

Patient Information
It is vital to identify the information needs of patients with disfiguring conditions in order to ensure that patients and families are fully informed about available help and advice.
